Our story: The Gary Muslim Center
Discover the journey of the Gary Muslim Center, born from a vision for community, stability, and guidance. We are more than a place of worship; we are a living part of Gary's growth and future.

Our foundation: Why we are here
The Gary Muslim Center exists because there was a real need for guidance, stability, and unity in the community—and a vision to answer that need the right way. It wasn’t just started to be another place of worship. It was built with purpose—rooted in the legacy of leaders like Imam W. Deen Mohammed—to establish a community where Islam is lived, understood, and practiced with dignity in everyday life.
At its core, the story is simple but powerful: It began with people who wanted more than rituals—they wanted understanding. It grew from a desire to strengthen families, not just individuals. And it continues today to serve a city that deserves hope, structure, and opportunity—right there in Gary.
So why is it here today? Because the need never went away. The Gary Muslim Center stands as: a place where faith meets real life, a hub for education, service, and community building, and a foundation for the next generation to grow.

What makes us unique in Gary
The Gary Muslim Center is special because it isn’t just located in the community of Gary—it is of the community. It reflects the people, the history, and the spirit of Gary in a way that makes it more than a place of worship; it is a living, breathing part of the city’s growth, resilience, and future.
What makes the Gary Muslim Center different is its deep commitment to meeting people where they are—spiritually, socially, and culturally. It embraces the legacy of community-centered Islam inspired by leaders like Imam W. Deen Mohammed, focusing not only on prayer, but on education, family life, service, and empowerment. It’s a space where faith is not separate from daily life—it actively shapes how people care for one another, build families, and uplift the neighborhood. Unlike many centers that operate primarily within their walls, the Gary Muslim Center extends outward. It serves as a hub for unity, offering programs that strengthen families, educate youth, support those in need.

The heart of our community: Our people
The heart of the Gary Muslim Center is not just the building—it’s the people who live out its mission every day. At Gary Muslim Center, the strength comes from a combination of leadership, families, volunteers, and the broader community working together in faith and service.
Spiritual leadership — the foundation
At the center of everything is Imam Amiin Al‑Musaddiq. He is more than just an imam—he is a community builder, mentor, and advocate. Under his leadership, the Center blends Islamic knowledge with real-life solutions, guiding people spiritually while also helping them navigate everyday challenges. His background in youth development, re-entry support, and coaching allows him to connect faith with practical transformation in the community.
Contribution: Leads Jumu’ah, Taleem, and counseling. Provides marriage (Nikkah) and family guidance. Mentors youth and returning citizens. Sets the spiritual and communal direction.
"The Gary Muslim Center has been a beacon of hope and support for my family and me. It truly embodies community and faith in action."
